The new A757 GSM/GPRS RTU is taylor made to work with all sensors outputting pulses, be those rain gauges, be those water meters. In both cases customers were looking for an inexpensive solution for such single-sensor applications - A757 is the right choice.
Which applications have we built the A757 RTU for?
Precipitation monitoring:
Based on the logger concept of its bigger brother A753, the pulse input of the A757 offers two options to record rain fall:
a) Summing up the total rainfall within a certain period of time, e.g. every 15 minutes.
b) Recording the date and time of every single pulse, thus allowing for a very accurate determination of rainfall intensity.
This makes the A757 a perfect RTU for hydrographical services that wish to build vast networks of rain gauge stations to offer services such as flood warning and weather forecasts, but also general toursim information
Automatic Meter Reading:
The vast majority of bult meters, controll meters, or irrigation meters features a pulse output. Closely monitoring the water consumption not only provides information about the quantities consumed. It also allows to create consumption profiles to determine leakages in pipelines, better understand consumer preferences, manage water reservoirs and pumps, etc.
Battery operation without solar panel:
Particularly when it comes to water meters installed in under-ground manholes it is often desired to not have to install a solar panel above ground, mainly for reasons of vandalism, but also because the water meter is right in the middle of a streat. Rain gauges are often installed in shadowy places somewhere in the middle of the woods, with little sunshine available to recharge the batteries.
For all such cases we offer an optional pack of non-rechargeable Lithium batteries. In conjunction with the RTU's power save mode and only one or two daily transmissions this will provide autonomy of at least 2 years.
