Heavy Duty Gauge
Model "Heavy Duty" This model is meant to be installed either directly on the ground, e.g. on a flat, concrete base, or on a 1m pole. The body and funnel of this gauge are made from aluminum alloy. The heavy base can easily be positioned by means of three leveling screws and a built-in spirit level.
The device is available with orifices of 200 and 400cm², both of which feature a precision machined septum ring with a sharp edge to prevent birds landing on it.
The rain gauge comprises a divided bucket assembly, which is pivoted at the center. Rain collects in one side of the bucket, which then tips when a predetermined volume of water has been collected. The tipping action discharges the collected water and positions the opposite side of the bucket under the discharge nozzle ready for filling. This design makes the rain gauge well suited for areas where rain events of higher intensity occur.
A sealed reed switch, capable of indefinite operation, and solid mechanics ensure that this instrument has a long working life with little need for maintenance and adjustment.
For mounting this device on a mast a mounting kit is available, consisting of a 150cm long, sturdy aluminum pole
and a nicely machined round base plate.
